The kid did an amazing job for a ten year old. He definitely could have used some more I pattern shots and cut aways, but come on, he's 10, and he knows for next time. Really impressed with his natural feel for movie making. Shot entirely on a handheld iphone.

The Earth in the Air is a short film written by Michael Bailey and directed by Jared Hogan. I had the pleasure of shooting the project. It was an amazing opportunity to apply what I had learned from the last major project I had shot (Afterlife). After much deliberation, Jared and I decided that we would go into this with next to no equipment (a camera, a tripod, and a dolly). In the film, the main character leaves home with next to nothing, and his surroundings ultimately determine his path. I felt that the making of the film should be as close to this as possible. Due to the lack of lighting equipment, we too were then forced to let our surroundings determine our shots, and ultimately, the story.

I was very lucky to have played a key role in the evolution of this legendary VFX studio. The Troll sequence from FOTR is one I was particularly involved with; working through the night with Randy Cook to create the VR Previs and deliver it to editorial, then following through on set over two long, cold and dusty weeks as we played each setup to the crew so that shot-specific backgrounds could be captured correctly.

George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead still sets the film standard for all indie fright and scare flicks. In Night of the Living Dead, strangers hold up in a rural Pennsylvania farmhouse and battle constant attacks from dead locals who have been brought back to life by mysterious radiation. And it is not long after that, that someone is killed. The captain (Robert Stack) tries to keep the passengers calm while the people on the ground do background checks on everyone and they learn that some of the passengers have history with one another. But it seems that there's a lot more going on.

Therefore, they set the goals really high and came up with the first film written by a dead person. Rag & Bone has just released a brilliant film for Spring/Summer collection directed by actor Michael Pitt. This is his directorial debut and a great one. Ster-Kinekor Theatres and advertising agency FoxP2 from Cape Town have made a very funny campaign. The spot takes place at the office. Derek has bought a bonsai tree and now grooms it instead of going to the movies. Unlike his colleagues, who have seen a cool movie and now are recreating the best scenes. Derek tries to blend in unsuccessfully and doesn’t really get the inside jokes. He is out of a group, obviously. Missing the movie backfired good. Watch the video and have a good laugh.

To get the full impression you will have to watch these videos from the beginning to the end. The creatives’ plan worked for us – we laughed eventually and really liked the campaign. The brand promotes cinema’s Tuesday night package, which allows to get two tickets for the price of one. Watch the commercial and have a good laugh as well.
